FAQ

1. Where is the rehabilitation assessment carried out?

Rehab Solutions typically visits the injured person at their home to carry out the assessment, although occasionally, it will be conducted at the person’s workplace or at their solicitors’ offices. Rehab Solutions will usually telephone the injured person direct to arrange a convenient appointment, which will then be confirmed in writing and copies sent to all parties involved in their instruction.

2.How long does the assessment take?

Typically, the assessment takes around 3 hours.

3.What happens during the assessment?

The assessment does not involve any physical examination or written tests. The injured person will be asked a number of questions covering the following areas:

The injured person is welcome to have a friend or family member attend the meeting with them. At the end of the meeting, the injured person will be asked to sign a form of authorisation which enables Rehab Solutions to gain access to medical records, if necessary, and consult with treating consultants, therapists or any other professional involved in their treatment and rehabilitation. This can be signed and returned at a later date if preferred.

4.What happens after the assessment?

After our assessment, Rehab Solutions produces an Assessment report which outlines the injured person’s current situation, treatment and rehabilitation needs. It also identifies any difficulties or potential barriers to rehabilitation that they may be facing and provides recommendations and an action plan for tackling these with practical solutions for helping the person move forward in their rehabilitation and recovery from the injury.

If we are instructed under the Rehabilitation Code, our reports will be sent out simultaneously to the injured person’s solicitors and the defendant Insurers. If we are authorised to implement our rehabilitation recommendations, we will then resume contact with the injured person to discuss in detail the rehabilitation plan and agree the next steps forward. One of our rehabilitation case managers will then put in place the recommendations outlined in our assessment report. This includes arranging treatment and rehabilitation services and closely monitoring progress of these activities, whilst being available to give telephone advice and support as necessary and providing regular progress reports to the instructing parties.

5.What geographical areas does Rehab Solutions cover?

Although based in the South of England, Rehab Solutions is able to cover the whole of the UK including Scotland, Ireland and the Channel Islands.

6.What qualifications and experience do our rehabilitation case managers have?

Rehab Solutions employs independent rehabilitation case managers from a range of backgrounds, including nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and occupational psychology, all with several years’ case management experience.

7.Is Rehab Solutions part of an Insurance company or personal injury solicitors firm?

No, Rehab Solutions is an independent limited company. Its services as a rehabilitation consultancy are used by both personal injury solicitors and defendant Insurers although we are completely independent from these companies.

8.Can I (the injured person) be forced into undergoing this process?

No, the rehabilitation assessment and case management process is an open, consultative one which can only be undertaken with the full agreement and cooperation of the injured person.
